Early Career and Education

Born in Medellín in 1991, Giraldo began her public life at age 14 by appearing on the Colombian version of The X Factor. She pursued formal training at the University of Antioquia while recording tracks such as 2007's En la Playa. Early attempts to secure label support in Miami were met with skepticism, as executives claimed a woman could not succeed in the reggaeton market. Undeterred, Giraldo and her father independently toured across Colombia to build a following.

Transition to International Recognition

In 2014, Giraldo relocated to New York to study music business administration, a move that revitalized her career path. Upon signing with Universal Music Latino in 2016, she released tracks like Casi Nada and Hello. Her breakthrough occurred in 2017 with the release of Ahora Me Llama, a collaboration with Bad Bunny that garnered over one billion views on YouTube. Her debut studio album, Unstoppable, followed in October 2017, establishing her position within the global pop urbano movement.

Chart Success and Awards

Throughout the 2020s, Giraldo reached new commercial peaks with albums like KG0516 and Mañana Será Bonito. Her 2023 collaboration with Shakira, TQG, reached the seventh position on the Billboard Hot 100. Her work has earned numerous accolades, including the 2018 Latin Grammy for Best New Artist, the 2023 Latin Grammy for Album of the Year, and a 2024 Grammy Award for Best Música Urbana Album.

Recent Collaborations

In November 2024, Giraldo released the single +57, featuring fellow Colombian artists Feid, J Balvin, Maluma, Ryan Castro, Blessd, and producer Ovy on the Drums. The title, referencing Colombia's international dialing code, signaled her continued focus on collaborating with regional peers. The track attained the number one spot on the Billboard Latin Airplay chart.
