Early Development
Born in 1966 in New York City, Favreau attended The Bronx High School of Science before enrolling at Queens College. Following his departure from university, he moved to Chicago to engage with the city's improvisational theater scene. His early performance work eventually transitioned into film acting, marking his professional debut in the 1993 film Rudy.

In 1996, Favreau achieved a career milestone as both the writer and star of the film Swingers. This project established his reputation within the industry and preceded further acting roles in various films throughout the late 1990s, including Deep Impact and Very Bad Things. During this period, he also appeared in television sitcoms like Friends and the variety series Dinner for Five.
Transition to Directing
Favreau transitioned to feature film direction with the 2001 release of Made. He achieved significant commercial success with the 2003 comedy Elf before directing the 2005 film Zathura: A Space Adventure. These projects preceded his involvement with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where he directed the 2008 film Iron Man and the 2010 sequel Iron Man 2, while also appearing as the character Happy Hogan.
Franchise Expansion
The filmmaker expanded his work into the Star Wars universe by creating the Disney+ series The Mandalorian, which premiered in 2019. In collaboration with Dave Filoni, he served as an executive producer on various spin-offs, including The Book of Boba Fett and Ahsoka. His portfolio also includes directing the 2016 adaptation of The Jungle Book and the 2019 version of The Lion King.
