Joe Hart

Charles Joseph John Hart first established his professional credentials as a goalkeeper for Shrewsbury Town before his 2006 transfer to Manchester City transformed his trajectory. Over a career spanning two decades, he secured four Premier League Golden Glove awards and achieved significant domestic success in Scotland, alongside 75 senior international appearances representing the England national football team.

Formative years and breakthrough

Born in Shrewsbury in 1987, Hart attended Meole Brace School and developed athletic proficiency in both cricket and football. His early professional development occurred at Shrewsbury Town, where he made his senior debut in April 2004. By the 2005–06 season, he solidified his position as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper, earning a selection to the League Two PFA Team of the Year and attracting interest from Premier League scouts.

Premier League prominence at Manchester City

Following his transfer to Manchester City, Hart initially gained experience through loan spells at Tranmere Rovers and Blackpool. A pivotal loan to Birmingham City during the 2009–10 campaign resulted in his nomination for the PFA Young Player of the Year. Upon returning to City, he achieved sustained success, winning two Premier League titles and holding a joint record for four Golden Glove awards. His tenure at the club shifted in 2016 following the appointment of Pep Guardiola, leading to subsequent loan appearances for Torino and West Ham United.

Later career and Scottish success

In August 2018, Hart joined Burnley on a permanent transfer before moving to Tottenham Hotspur in 2020. His final professional phase occurred at Celtic, where he earned seven trophies across three seasons, including three consecutive Scottish Premiership titles. He announced his retirement at the conclusion of the 2023–24 season. Beyond his club career, Hart served as England’s primary goalkeeper between 2010 and 2017, participating in two FIFA World Cups and two UEFA European Championships.
