Early Career in Argentina
Pastore began in the youth system of Talleres, making his debut in the Argentine second division in 2007 under manager Ricardo Gareca. In 2008, he moved on loan to Huracán. During the 2009 Clausura championship, he secured a regular first-team position under Ángel Cappa. His performance in a 4–0 victory against River Plate, where he scored twice, marked his emergence as a top scorer with seven goals and three assists for the season.
Rise in Serie A
In 2009, Palermo signed Pastore for a fee of €4.7 million. After an initial period as a substitute, he became a key player behind strikers Fabrizio Miccoli and Edinson Cavani, helping the club reach fifth place and qualify for the UEFA Europa League. In November 2010, he scored a hat-trick against Catania before his 2011 departure.

Paris Saint-Germain acquired Pastore in 2011 for a reported €39.8 million. During his tenure, he contributed to five Ligue 1 titles and several domestic cups. In 2014–15, he was named to the UNFP team of the season. He famously wore the number 10 shirt for a period before gifting it to Neymar in 2017, reverting to his original number 27.
Final Professional Years
Pastore signed a five-year contract with Roma in 2018 for €24.7 million, debuting against Torino. His time in Italy ended with a contract termination by mutual consent in August 2021. He subsequently joined Elche in Spain and later Qatar SC in 2023, eventually retiring from professional football.
International Representation
