Architectural Foundation
Kasl received his professional training at the Czech Technical University in Prague, completing his studies between 1970 and 1976. Upon graduation, he secured a position at a cooperative housing enterprise. Following the events of 1989, he founded a private architectural company, an enterprise he managed until his transition to the mayoralty in 1998. He returned to his architectural roots in 2007 by establishing a new studio.

His entry into municipal governance occurred in 1990 when he was elected to the Prague City Assembly as a member of the Civic Forum. Following the dissolution of this group, he aligned himself with the Civic Democratic Party. In 1998, he secured the role of Mayor of Prague. His tenure ended in 2002, a year marked by his resignation from the Civic Democratic Party due to internal disagreements regarding corruption and coalition policies. He subsequently formed the European Democrats, acting as party leader from 2002 to 2006, before later attempting to return to the City Assembly in 2014 as the head of a non-partisan list.
Professional Governance
Beyond his direct political roles, Kasl remains active within the professional community. Since 2019, he has served as the president of the Czech Chamber of Architects. He is also a participant in the Prague Society for International Cooperation, an NGO focused on the development of leadership and networking. In addition to his architectural and political duties, he has contributed to the field through teaching.
