Between 1994 and 1997, she portrayed Shannon Reed on the television series Home and Away, receiving nominations for the Logie Awards for her performance.

Fisher entered the Hollywood market in 2002 with a role in the live-action film Scooby-Doo. She subsequently appeared in various independent and studio films including Dallas 362 and The Wannabes in 2003, and I Heart Huckabees in 2004. Her breakthrough followed in 2005 with the comedy Wedding Crashers, which grossed 285.1 million USD worldwide. This role earned her the Best Breakthrough Performance Award at the 2006 MTV Movie Awards.
