Early Career and Publication
Asano began his publishing path at the turn of the millennium with titles such as Futsū no Hi and Sotsugyōshiki Jigoku in 2000. These were followed by Uchū kara Konnichi wa in 2001. His early storytelling techniques helped him secure a place in the Japanese manga industry, leading to serializations including What a Wonderful World!, which ran from 2002 to 2004, and Nijigahara Holograph, published between 2003 and 2005.

The manga series Solanin, serialized from 2005 to 2006, serves as a prominent entry in his bibliography. It received a feature film adaptation in Japan in April 2010, which starred Aoi Miyazaki. Throughout this period, Asano produced other significant titles, including the 2007 to 2013 run of Goodnight Punpun and A Girl on the Shore, which spanned from 2009 to 2013.
Professional Recognition and Later Projects
Asano's contributions to illustration and manga have earned him several accolades, including the 2018 Attilio Micheluzzi Award and the Shogakukan Manga Award in 2020. His work Dead Dead Demon's Dededede Destruction, serialized between 2014 and 2022, won the 66th Shogakukan Manga Award in 2021. Recent projects include the 2017 series Downfall and the 2023 work Mujina Into the Deep.
