Professional Development
Varg completed her architectural training at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology School of Architecture in 1978. Her early professional experience began immediately thereafter at Lars Brydes Arkitektkontor, where she focused on residential projects. During these initial years, she participated in several design competitions, notably contributing to the development of the Täppan district located in Södermalm, Stockholm. By 1983, she joined Rosenberg & Stål Arkitektkontor, eventually securing a role as co-owner and co-leader in 1992. The firm was later renamed Rosenbergs Arkitekter, a practice she continues to oversee alongside Alessandro Ripellino.

Her portfolio encompasses diverse typologies, ranging from academic facilities to civic infrastructure and large-scale office environments. Notable works include the Zanderska huset at the Karolinska institutet in Flemingsberg, which serves as a training facility. She also led the expansion and conversion of the Sollentuna Swimming Center and Sports Hall. In Linköping, she collaborated with Gustaf Rosenberg on the corporate headquarters for the energy firm Tekniska Verken, as well as the Ericsson research and development buildings situated in Mjärdevi Science Park. Additionally, she managed projects in the Kabelverket district of Älvsjö, including an administrative building and a planning proposal for 1,400 residential apartments.
Recognition and Industry Involvement
Varg has received significant professional recognition for her output, including the Kasper Salin Award in 1994 for her work on the Tekniska Verken headquarters. Her project Zanderska huset received a nomination for the same award in 2003. She frequently acts as a judge for industry panels, including the Swedish Association of Architects and the Stora Samhällsbyggarpriset. Beyond practice, she has lectured at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology on topics concerning residential planning and drafting methodologies, known locally as skissmetodik.
