Named to the TIME 100 in 2016, Elba was made an OBE that same year for services to drama. Through the Elba Hope Foundation, co-founded with his wife Sabrina Dhowre Elba, the couple say they have helped mobilize $1.75 billion against rural poverty, contributed $2 million to COVID-19 rural relief, and supported $6 million in debt relief for Somalia.
