Hussein Omar Abdulghani Sulaimani emerged from the youth ranks of Al-Ahli in 1992, transitioning from an initial role as a forward to become a full-back. Over a professional career spanning nearly three decades, he represented clubs across Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, and Bulgaria, establishing himself as a significant figure in Saudi football history.
Early Development and Al-Ahli Tenure
Born on 21 January 1977 in Jeddah, Abdulghani began his professional journey with Al-Ahli. Under the guidance of youth manager Amin Dabo, he shifted positions to full-back, making his senior debut in September 1995. During his first stint at the club, which lasted until 2008, he contributed to major victories including the 1998 Crown Prince Cup and the 2002 Gulf Club Champions Cup. He was appointed club captain for the 2004–05 season, leading the squad to further successes in the 2007 Federation Cup and the fifth Crown Prince Cup title for the club.

In 2008, Abdulghani moved to the Swiss Super League, signing a three-year contract with Neuchâtel Xamax. This transfer marked him as the third Saudi footballer to play in Europe. He made 21 appearances across all competitions during his single season in Switzerland. Later, in 2017, he pursued an opportunity in the Bulgarian First League with Vereya, becoming the first Saudi player to compete in that country's top division.
Al-Nassr and Final Years
Upon returning to Saudi Arabia in 2009, Abdulghani signed with Al-Nassr. His tenure there included winning consecutive league titles during the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons, as well as the 2014 Saudi Crown Prince Cup. Despite various disciplinary suspensions and an injury in 2010 that sidelined him, he remained a consistent presence. After his release from Al-Nassr in 2017, he had spells at Ohod and a final return to Al-Ahli before announcing his retirement on 15 October 2020.
