Humberto Andrés Suazo Pontivo, a forward nicknamed Chupete or The man who came from Planet Goal, established his professional reputation through a prolific scoring record in Chile and Mexico. Known for a keen positional sense and the ability to finish with either foot, he transitioned from a difficult youth career into a notable tenure as a top international striker.
Early Career and Development
Born in San Antonio on 10 May 1981, Suazo began playing with Club Torino at age six. His youth path proved inconsistent, as he struggled during a tenure at Universidad Católica where he frequently left facilities to return home. He made his professional debut in 2000 for Ñublense while on loan, scoring his first goal against Magallanes before a fibula fracture sidelined him for seven months. After spells at Magallanes, San Antonio Unido, and a highly productive 40-goal season with San Luis Quillota, he moved to Audax Italiano, where he scored 40 goals before transferring to Colo-Colo.

He secured his place in club history by scoring the decisive goal in the 79th minute of the 2007 Apertura final against Palestino.
Tenure at Monterrey and Real Zaragoza
In 2007, Monterrey acquired Suazo for $5 million. He eventually became the club's all-time leading scorer, winning two league titles and three CONCACAF Champions League trophies.
