A career that spans decades in the electronic entertainment industry, he evolved from designing layouts for haunted attractions at theme parks to steering the development of some of the most influential titles in the history of interactive software.
Early Career at Capcom
Fujibayashi entered the video game industry in 1995 upon joining Capcom. Within the organization, he was assigned to Production Studio 1. His early professional output included roles as a planner for the interactive movie Gakkō no Kowai Uwasa: Hanako-san ga Kita!! and the mahjong title Yōsuke Ide Meijin no Shin Jissen Maajan. He also expanded his reach into design and direction with the puzzle game Magical Tetris Challenge.

His introduction to The Legend of Zelda series occurred during his tenure at Capcom, specifically with the Game Boy Color releases Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages. During the early development of these titles, he performed administrative tasks, collecting staff ideas to construct presentations for producer Shigeru Miyamoto. He eventually advanced to the position of director, where he also functioned as a planner and scenario writer, notably creating the mechanical system that enabled the two games to link for continuous playthroughs. He directed the Game Boy Advance titles The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords and The Minish Cap before moving to Nintendo in 2005.

Following his transition to Nintendo, Fujibayashi became a member of The Legend of Zelda development team. His initial contributions included serving as a subdirector and story writer for the title Phantom Hourglass. Over the subsequent years, his responsibilities grew as he took on the role of director for major series entries, including Skyward Sword, Breath of the Wild, and Tears of the Kingdom.
