Industrial Development
Born in 1862, Henryk Grohman entered a family firm already deep in the production of textiles. His father, Ludwik Grohman, had partnered with his own father to build the company. Following his formal education in Great Britain and Switzerland, Henryk assumed leadership roles, enlarging the plant and modernizing its infrastructure to align with the industrial advancements of his era.

In 1892, Grohman commissioned architect Hilary Majewski to design a private villa, which functioned as a significant cultural hub. The residence hosted various concerts and high-profile guests, including the author Henryk Sienkiewicz and the composer Ignacy Paderewski, establishing the site as a focal point for the artistic community in Łódź.
Artistic Collection and Legacy
Beyond his industrial career, Grohman was a dedicated collector of rare instruments. His personal collection included a 1734 Guarneri violin and the Lauterbach Stradivarius, both of which he performed on personally. Upon his death in 1939, he bequeathed his entire estate to the Polish state. He is buried in the Evangelical-Augsburg section of the Łódź Old Cemetery, within the grave of Ludwik Grohman.
