Academic and Early Professional Foundation
Born in Heidelberg in 1941 to Rudolf and Leonie Wild, Hans-Peter Wild pursued an extensive legal and business education. After passing his first state law examination in Heidelberg, he studied at the Sorbonne and the University of Cambridge before earning an MBA and a doctorate from the University of Mannheim. His thesis focused on the market-dominating company under French law. He began his professional career as a managing director at Diersch & Schröder in Bremen, overseeing mineral oil, shipping, and chemical operations for four years.
Expansion of the Wild Group
In 1974, Wild joined his parents’ business, Rudolf Wild GmbH & Co. KG. He expanded the firm into two core international divisions: Wild Flavors and Capri-Sun. To gain global market recognition, he engaged Muhammad Ali as an advertising ambassador in 1979. In 2010, he sold a 35% stake in the flavorings division to KKR, eventually selling Wild Flavors to Archer Daniels Midland in 2014. He retained ownership of the Capri-Sun companies and the mechanical engineering firm Pouch Partners, formerly known as Indag. His family office, Wild Group Management, currently oversees holdings in biotechnology, disruptive technologies, and luxury hospitality, including the Goldener Hirsch and Schloss Mönchstein hotels in Salzburg.

Wild’s charitable work includes the Leonie Wild Charitable Foundation, established with his mother in 1997 to assist the Rhine-Neckar region. He has donated significantly to various institutions, including a US$16.5 million gift to the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation in 2016 and a €12 million pledge for a new festival center at the Salzburg Festival. His academic patronage includes the Wild Chair for Family Business at IMD and various scholarship programs at the universities of Heidelberg and Mannheim. Additionally, he supports medical research at the University Hospital of Zürich and Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Sports Leadership
His involvement in sports began with a brief stint owning a cycling team, Capri Sun–Koga Miyata, from 1980 to 1982. In 2007, he founded the Wild Rugby Academy to elevate German rugby. After withdrawing support from the German Rugby Federation in 2017 due to organizational concerns, he purchased the Parisian club Stade Français. He has served as the club's Président du Conseil d’Administration since 2019.
