Early Development and Music
Born in Alexandria in 1944, Saban moved to Israel in 1956. Following his time in the Israel Defense Forces, he entered the music industry in 1966 as a bassist and manager for the band The Lions of Judah. After the group traveled to London, he shifted his focus toward promotion. Financial losses sustained during the Yom Kippur War led him to discover the artist Noam Kaniel, with whom he relocated to Paris. This partnership, which produced themes for French television, facilitated Saban's entry into the American cartoon soundtrack market during the 1980s.

Saban founded Saban Entertainment in 1988, which later entered a partnership with News Corporation to form Fox Kids Worldwide. In 2001, he sold Fox Family Worldwide to The Walt Disney Company for $5.3 billion, securing approximately $1.6 billion in personal profit. His investment activities continued with the leadership of a consortium that acquired the Spanish-language broadcaster Univision Communications in 2006 for $13.7 billion. The asset was eventually sold in 2020 to Searchlight Capital Partners and Wade Davis.
Recent Ventures and Political Engagement
In 2019, he launched the Saban Music Group, allocating $500 million of his own capital to focus on global artists, with a specific interest in the Latin American market.
