Kashani served two distinct terms as the chairman of the Persepolis Athletic and Cultural Club. His first term commenced on 1 June 2007 and concluded on 1 June 2008. During this initial tenure, he secured a contract with Afshin Ghotbi, which resulted in the team winning the Persian Gulf Cup. He returned to the chairmanship on 1 October 2009. Under this second appointment, he contracted with Ali Daei, leading the club to victory in the 2009–10 Hazfi Cup and a subsequent title in the following season. His tenure was marked by friction, notably following the appointment of Hamid Estili as head coach on 21 June 2011, a move that prompted significant fan protests. He resigned from the post on 20 September 2011.
Political Engagement
His political career began with his election to the City Council of Tehran in 2003, with his term officially starting on 10 April of that year. An associate of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Kashani successfully sought re-election in 2006, 2013, and 2021.
National and International Sports Roles
Beyond his club-level responsibilities, Kashani expanded his influence into the national structure of the sport. He became a board member of the Football Federation of Iran on 3 August 2010. Furthermore, he has served as a member of the AFC Committee for Professional Clubs and fulfilled duties as the business manager for the Iran national under-23 football team.
