Giovanni Ribisi

Antonino Giovanni Ribisi began his career as a child actor in the 1980s sitcom My Two Dads before transitioning into a prolific career spanning television and feature film. Born in Los Angeles on December 17, 1974, he established a presence in the industry through decades of recurring television roles and supporting character work in major commercial productions.

Television and Sitcom Roles

Ribisi gained early recognition in television with a recurring role on The Wonder Years from 1992 to 1993. He reached a wider audience during his tenure on the sitcom Friends, where he portrayed the half-brother of the character Phoebe Buffay between 1995 and 2003. His television work continued with a recurring part in My Name Is Earl from 2005 to 2008, earning him a nomination for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series. Later, he held a starring role in the sitcom Dads from 2013 to 2014 and led the Amazon crime drama series Sneaky Pete throughout its three seasons from 2015 to 2019.

Film Appearances and Cinematography

His cinematic credits include performances in That Thing You Do! in 1996 and Saving Private Ryan in 1998. During the following decade, he appeared in Gone in 60 Seconds, Heaven, Flight of the Phoenix, Perfect Stranger, Public Enemies, and the 2009 film Avatar, where he played the character Parker Selfridge. Further work included roles in Gangster Squad, A Million Ways to Die in the West, Papa: Hemingway in Cuba, and Horizon: An American Saga. In 2024, Ribisi expanded his technical involvement in the industry by serving as the cinematographer for the independent film Strange Darling.

Personal Life and Associations

Ribisi is an active member of Scientology and participated in the 2005 gala opening of the organization's Psychiatry: An Industry of Death museum. His personal history includes a marriage to actress Mariah O'Brien from 1997 until their 2001 divorce; they share one daughter born in 1997. He later had a five-year relationship with singer-songwriter Cat Power ending in 2012. In 2012, he married model Agyness Deyn, a union that concluded with a divorce filing in 2015. In December 2018, he announced the birth of fraternal twins with Emily Ward.
