Corporate Leadership and Development
Born in Berlin in 1855, Georg Wilhelm von Siemens served as a general partner of the family firm Siemens & Halske. Following the incorporation of the company in 1897, the leadership structure evolved across the organization. Wilhelm assumed the position of chairman of the board for Siemens-Schuckertwerke AG in 1903, a role he maintained until 1918. After the death of his elder brother Arnold von Siemens in 1918, Wilhelm took over as chairman of Siemens & Halske AG, leading the firm until his death in 1919 in Arosa, Switzerland.

As both an engineer and an entrepreneur, Wilhelm focused on large-scale international infrastructure. He actively promoted the development of the Berlin to Iraq railway system, a project intended to reach completion around 1915. This initiative represented a significant expansion of German economic influence, creating direct competition with British imperial interests. His work within the Association of German Engineers (VDI) further reflected his commitment to the advancement of professional engineering standards within the German Empire.
Family and Legacy
In 1882, Wilhelm married his first cousin, Eleonore Siemens, who lived from 1860 until 1919. The couple had two children, Wilhelm Ferdinand von Siemens and Mathilde Eleonore Eveline von Siemens. Following Wilhelm's death, leadership roles within the family company transitioned to his younger half-brother, Carl Friedrich von Siemens. His professional contributions were recognized in 1896 when he was made an honorary member of the Physics Association in Frankfurt am Main.
