His honours include International Boxing Hall of Fame, WBC World Welterweight Champion, WBC World Super Lightweight Champion, WBC World Lightweight Champion, WBC World Super Featherweight Champion, WBA World Super Welterweight Champion, WBA World Welterweight Champion and IBF World Welterweight Champion. He competed at the 1996 Summer Olympics.
