The career of Flóris Nándor Korb defined the structural evolution of Budapest at the turn of the twentieth century. Born in Kecskemét in 1860, he developed his professional foundation at the Bauakademie in Berlin. After his training, he moved to Budapest, where he spent over a decade working under the mentorship of Alajos Hauszmann.
Professional Partnership
In 1893, Korb established a formal partnership with Kálmán Giergl. This collaboration proved central to his output as the pair secured numerous significant commissions in the Hungarian capital.

Korb maintained a prolific output across the city, overseeing projects such as the Klotild Palaces between 1899 and 1902 and the Kiraly Apartments in 1900. He also designed the Mint Building in Budapest and the Zielinski Water Tower in Szeged.
International Recognition and Later Projects
Beyond his local projects, Korb designed the Central University Library of Cluj-Napoca with Giergl, completed between 1904 and 1909. His later work included the Commercial Savings and Insurance Bank in Kecskemét and the large-scale development of Debrecen University, which spanned from 1914 until his death in 1930. In 1924, he received the Greguss prize and gained admission to the Royal Institute of British Architects.
