Argentine association football player (born 1985)

Ezequiel Lavezzi commanded a transfer fee of 26.5 million euros when he joined Paris Saint-Germain in 2012, reflecting his status as a persistent forward in European football. Across his career, he operated as a winger, second striker, or attacking midfielder, known for his dribbling ability, sharp technique, and pace on the pitch.

Early Career and San Lorenzo

Born in 1985 in Villa Gobernador Gálvez, Lavezzi began his professional path at Estudiantes (BA) in 2003, scoring 17 goals in 39 games. He moved to Italian club Genoa in 2004 for 1 million euros but was immediately loaned to San Lorenzo. During his time there, he became known as el Pocho and la Bestia, scoring eight goals in the Apertura 2004 tournament. After a match-fixing scandal hindered Genoa, he joined San Lorenzo permanently for 1.2 million euros. He helped the team secure the Clausura 2007 title.

Success at Napoli

Lavezzi signed a five-year deal with Napoli on 5 July 2007 for 6 million euros. He made an immediate impression, scoring a hat-trick against Pisa in the Coppa Italia. Throughout his five-year stint, he became a focal point for the club, famously scoring in the 2012 Champions League Round of 16 against Chelsea. He concluded his tenure by winning the 2012 Coppa Italia after defeating Juventus, marking the club's first major trophy in over two decades.

Paris Saint-Germain and Final Years

In July 2012, Lavezzi moved to Paris Saint-Germain on a four-year contract. During his time in France, he made over 150 appearances, winning three Ligue 1 titles, two Coupes de la Ligue, and one Coupe de France. In 2016, he transitioned to China to play for Hebei China Fortune, where he remained until his retirement from professional football in 2019.

International Representation

He was part of the squad that secured an Olympic gold medal in 2008 in Beijing. He also played a role in reaching the finals of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, the 2015 Copa América, and the Copa América Centenario.
