Kemboi established himself as a force in the steeplechase by winning gold at the 2004 Athens Olympics, leading a Kenyan sweep alongside Brimin Kipruto and Paul Kipsiele Koech. He went on to secure consecutive World Championship gold medals in 2009, 2011, 2013, and 2015. His 2012 Olympic victory in London saw him finish in eight minutes 18.56 seconds. He remains one of five men to win both Olympic and World titles in the event.
Challenges and Retirement
At the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Kemboi finished seventh.
