Born in Săliște in 1895, Roșca pursued his higher education at the Faculty of Arts of Paris. He rendered the texts of Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel into the Romanian language and performed the inverse task by translating Hegel’s Life of Jesus into French. In addition to these efforts, he published Existénce tragique, an attempt at philosophical synthesis, which remains a key example of his broader intellectual reach during his tenure at Babeș-Bolyai University.
Professional Recognition and Published Output
Roșca earned the status of Doctor of Sciences in Philology and achieved formal recognition through his membership in the Romanian Academy. His later career involved an extensive publishing schedule, including Istoria filosofiei in 1964 and Prelegeri de estetică in 1966. His prolific output continued through the late 1960s with works such as Studii filosofice, Însemnări despre Hegel, and Prelegeri de filosofie a istoriei, concluding with Oameni şi climate in 1971.
