Academic Formation
Dolgopyat completed his early studies at the Moscow State School 57 mathematical class in 1989. He continued his undergraduate training at Lomonosov Moscow State University between 1989 and 1994. Moving to the United States, he completed his doctoral research at Princeton University by 1997.

His professional career began with a faculty position at Pennsylvania State University, where he served from 1999 to 2003. He transitioned to the University of Maryland in 2002 as an associate professor. After a brief return to Penn State during the 2006-2007 academic year, he rejoined the University of Maryland as a professor in 2007, where he remains today. In 2022, he received the title of Distinguished University Professor.
Research and Recognition
Dolgopyat received the Michael Brin Prize in Dynamical Systems in 2009 for his contributions to the theory of hyperbolic dynamics. His work has also been supported by fellowships, including the Miller Fellowship and a Sloan Fellowship. He is a foreign member of the Academia Europaea and has served on editorial boards for various mathematical publications, including the Journal of the American Mathematical Society.
