Academic Foundation
After completing his secondary education at Nova Gorica Grammar School, Komel pursued studies in philosophy and comparative literature at the University of Ljubljana. In 1995, he obtained his PhD, focusing on a hermeneutic critique of the anthropological orientation within modern philosophical discourse.

Komel serves as a professor of contemporary philosophy and the philosophy of culture at the University of Ljubljana. Beyond his teaching responsibilities, he presides over the Phenomenological Society in Ljubljana. Since 2005, he has directed research activities at the Humanistic institute of Nova revija. He also maintains an active role on the editorial boards of academic journals, including Phainomena, Nova revija, and Orbis Phaenomenologicus.
