Chase Elliott

Driving the No. 9 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for Hendrick Motorsports, William Clyde Elliott II emerged as a dominant force in American stock car racing. Born in 1995 in Dawsonville, Georgia, he achieved early recognition in late model circuits before ascending to the highest levels of NASCAR, where he secured a national championship and numerous high-profile victories throughout his professional career.

Early Career and Short Track Success

Before transitioning to national competition, Elliott established a rigorous performance record in short-track racing. By 2010, he competed in 40 races, recording 38 top-ten finishes. His proficiency on short tracks culminated in the unofficial grand slam of super late model racing. He claimed the Winchester 400 in 2010, the World Crown 300 in 2012, and the All American 400 in 2013. Additionally, he secured the Snowball Derby in 2011 and 2015, alongside three consecutive wins in the Snowflake 100 between 2010 and 2013.

Ascent to National Series

Elliott’s professional trajectory accelerated with his entry into the NASCAR Nationwide Series, where he won the 2014 championship and Rookie of the Year honors. This achievement made him the youngest driver to win a NASCAR national series title. In 2016, he began full-time competition in the NASCAR Cup Series with Hendrick Motorsports, taking over the No. 24 Chevrolet previously piloted by Jeff Gordon. He earned the Sprint Cup Series Rookie of the Year title that same season.

Championship and Career Milestones

In 2018, Elliott switched to the No. 9 car, a number historically associated with his father, Bill Elliott. He captured his first Cup Series victory at Watkins Glen that year. His most significant career achievement followed in 2020 when he won the NASCAR Cup Series championship. This title solidified his status alongside his father, making them the third father-son duo in the history of the sport to claim the championship. Beyond this title, he has amassed over 23 career Cup Series wins.
