Early Career and Domestic Success
Salcido debuted for Guadalajara in the Primera División de México on 22 July 2001, following his progression through the youth ranks. He registered 105 appearances for the club during his first stint. After a brief period away from the first squad, he returned as a defensive pillar, helping the team reach consecutive Copa Libertadores semifinals in 2005 and 2006.

In July 2006, Salcido signed a four-year contract with PSV Eindhoven. He became a fixture in the starting eleven, appearing in 33 of 34 league games during his first season, which ended in a championship title. His tenure included two Eredivisie titles and regular participation in the UEFA Champions League. By 2010, he transferred to Fulham, where he spent one season before returning to Mexico.
International Milestones
He participated in three FIFA World Cups in 2006, 2010, and 2014, in addition to three Gold Cups. His standout international achievement occurred in 2012 as a member of the squad that secured the gold medal at the Summer Olympics in London.
Professional Twilight and Coaching
After joining Tigres UANL on loan in 2011, Salcido helped the side win their first league title in over thirty years. He returned to Guadalajara in 2014, winning both the Clausura Copa MX and the league title in 2017. Following a final stint at Veracruz, he retired from professional play. In 2024, he moved into management, taking the helm at Halcones FC in the Liga Premier de México.
