Early Career and Training
Born in 1986 in Guri, South Korea, BoA came to the attention of SM Entertainment scouts in 1998 while attending a talent search with her older brother. Her first Japanese studio album, Listen to My Heart, released on March 13, 2002, topped the Oricon charts and achieved million-seller status. She followed this success with the 2003 release of Valenti, which sold over 1.2 million copies, and became the first non-Japanese artist to achieve six consecutive number-one studio albums on the Oricon chart.
Diversification and Media Appearances
Beyond her recording career, which encompasses twenty studio albums, BoA has engaged in various media roles. She served as a judge on the competition series K-pop Star between 2011 and 2013 and appeared as a coach on The Voice of Korea in 2020. Her acting credits include the 2016 television drama Listen to Love. Currently, she is a member of the collective Got the Beat.
