His coach, Lennart Bergelin, supported his unconventional, jerky strokes. Borg made his Davis Cup debut in 1972 at age 15, winning his first singles rubber against New Zealand’s Onny Parun. Borg recorded significant milestones in 1974, winning his first top-level title at the Italian Open and becoming the youngest male French Open champion at the time by defeating Manuel Orantes. He retained his French Open title in 1975 and achieved his first Wimbledon victory in 1976. Over his tenure, he won six French Open titles and five consecutive Wimbledon championships. His performance at the French Open remained particularly notable, as he exited that tournament undefeated in six finals.
