His performance trajectory peaked in the mid-1970s. During the 1973 All-Africa Games, he claimed victory in the 5000 metres. He followed this success at the 1974 Commonwealth Games in Christchurch, New Zealand, where he secured gold medals in both the 5000 metres and the 3000 metres steeplechase, along with a bronze medal in the 1500 metres.
Final Years and Legacy
Jipcho died on 24 July 2020 at the age of 77. He passed away at the Fountain Hospital in Eldoret, Kenya, due to multiple organ dysfunction syndrome resulting from cancer.
