Early Career and Bayern Munich
Schweinsteiger joined the Bayern Munich youth system on 1 July 1998. He made his senior debut under manager Ottmar Hitzfeld in November 2002 during a UEFA Champions League match against RC Lens. Initially deployed as a left-back and wide midfielder, he eventually transitioned into a central midfield role. His tenure included winning eight Bundesliga titles and seven DFB-Pokal trophies. In 2013, he achieved a historic treble, claiming the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, and the UEFA Champions League. By the time of his departure in 2015, he had scored 68 goals for the club.

Between 2004 and 2016, Schweinsteiger represented the German national team, earning 121 caps and scoring 24 goals. He featured in four European Championships and three World Cups, including the 2014 FIFA World Cup victory. Following the international retirement of Philipp Lahm in 2014, Schweinsteiger assumed the captaincy of the squad. He played his final international match against Finland on 31 August 2016.
Manchester United and Chicago Fire
In July 2015, Schweinsteiger signed a three-year contract with Manchester United, reuniting with manager Louis van Gaal. He made his Premier League debut against Tottenham Hotspur in August 2015 and scored his first goal for the club in November against Leicester City.
