Ukrainian association football player (born 1997)

At the age of 17 years and 55 days, Artem Dovbyk secured his place in the history of FC Cherkaskyi Dnipro by scoring his first professional goal against Krystal Kherson on 16 August 2014. This early success marked the beginning of a professional career that would span leagues in Ukraine, Moldova, Denmark, Spain, and Italy.

Early Career and Development

Born in Cherkasy, Ukraine, on 21 June 1997, Dovbyk developed his skills at the Olympic Reserve Specialized Sports School Slavutych. He debuted for FC Cherkaskyi Dnipro on 26 July 2014 and helped the team win the 2014–15 Ukrainian Second League. After joining FC Dnipro in 2015, he spent time on loan at Moldovan club FC Zaria Bălți, where he won the 2016 Moldovan Cup. He was later recognized as the 2016–17 Ukrainian Premier League Best Young Player.

Transition to International Football

In 2018, Dovbyk moved to Danish club FC Midtjylland on a free transfer, securing a national championship title that same year. He added a Danish Cup win in 2019 and a second cup title during a loan spell with SønderjyskE in the 2019–20 season. He eventually returned to Ukraine in July 2020 to sign with SC Dnipro-1, where he became the Ukrainian Premier League top scorer for two consecutive seasons, 2021–22 and 2022–23.

Success in La Liga

Dovbyk joined the Spanish club Girona on 6 August 2023 for a reported €7 million fee. His debut season proved highly productive; he scored 24 goals in La Liga, including a notable hat-trick against Sevilla in January 2024. His performance helped the team qualify for the UEFA Champions League for the first time. By scoring 24 goals, he surpassed Alexander Sørloth to secure the Pichichi Trophy.

Move to Italy and National Representation

On 2 August 2024, Roma acquired Dovbyk for €38 million. He finished his first season there as the club's top scorer with 17 goals across all competitions. After changing his jersey number to 9 in July 2025, he faced an injury setback in January 2026. On 30 July 2026, he moved to Bologna on loan. Internationally, he debuted for the senior Ukraine squad on 31 March 2021 and gained recognition for scoring the winning goal against Sweden in the UEFA Euro 2020 round of 16.
