Annekatrin Thiele

The 2016 Olympic quadruple sculls competition in Rio de Janeiro concluded with a gold medal victory for the German team, featuring Annekatrin Thiele. Olympic Career Progression

Thiele initiated her Olympic participation at the 2008 Summer Games. She secured a silver medal in the double sculls event alongside partner Christiane Huth. Four years later, at the 2012 Summer Olympics, she attained another silver medal, shifting her focus to the women's quadruple sculls category. This progression culminated in 2016, when she reached the top of the podium in Rio de Janeiro to claim her gold medal in the same quadruple sculls discipline.

Regatta Performance

Beyond her Olympic achievements, she established a presence at the Henley Royal Regatta. In 2017, she secured the Princess Royal Challenge Cup, which stands as the premier event for women's single sculls. During this victory, she represented the club SC DHfK Leipzig e.V., demonstrating her capabilities in individual competition settings following her international team experiences.

Academic and Professional Transition

Thiele completed her higher education at Leipzig University, where she studied sports science. Upon concluding her competitive rowing career, she transitioned into administrative and oversight roles. Based in Leipzig, she took on positions as a sports director and a control officer, applying her academic background and athletic experience to the management of regional sporting operations.
