By 2008, he established a financial partnership with Steven Spielberg’s DreamWorks, which led to his involvement in the production of several films, most notably the Academy Award-winning feature Lincoln.

In February 2020, during proceedings in a court regarding debt obligations to Chinese banks, he stated that his net worth was zero.
