Anand Panyarachun

Thai politician

Anand Panyarachun (born 1932) is a Thai diplomat, economist and lawyer. He was born in Bangkok on 9 August 1932.

Anand Panyarachun held office as Prime Minister of Thailand (1991–1992), ambassador of Thailand to Germany (1977–1978) and Prime Minister of Thailand (in 1992). He was attached to UNICEF.

Anand Panyarachun received Order of the Rising Sun, 1st class, Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire, Grand Officer of the Order of the Crown, Ramon Magsaysay Award (1997) and honorary doctor of the University of Hong Kong. He studied at Trinity College, Dulwich College and Bangkok Christian College.
