Early Development in Brazil
Born in 1992 in Novo Hamburgo, Alisson entered the youth academy of Internacional in 2002. He spent a decade progressing through the club's ranks, eventually making his senior debut in a Campeonato Gaúcho match on 17 February 2013. In February 2016, Alisson signed a pre-contract with the Italian club Roma for a €7.5 million fee. His debut for the club occurred in August 2016 against Porto. After serving as an understudy during his first season, he claimed the number one jersey for the 2017–18 campaign. His performances were critical in helping Roma reach the semi-finals of the 2017–18 UEFA Champions League, during which he kept 22 clean sheets across all competitions.
Success at Liverpool
Upon joining Liverpool in 2018, Alisson quickly established himself in the Premier League. In his debut season, he earned the Premier League Golden Glove by keeping 21 clean sheets and played a central role in the club's 2019 UEFA Champions League victory. He has subsequently won the FA Cup, EFL Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup. In 2019, he also received the inaugural Yashin Trophy.
International Representation
Alisson made his senior debut for the Brazil national team in 2015. He has represented his country at the FIFA World Cup in 2018, 2022, and 2026. Furthermore, he participated in the Copa América across the 2016, 2019, 2021, and 2024 tournaments, securing the 2019 title while being recognized as the competition's best goalkeeper.
