Early Musical Engagement
Born in 1950, Fältskog began formal piano instruction in 1958 and participated in church choir activities. Her initial professional experience involved joining the Bernt Enghardt band at age 15, a commitment that required leaving school. She later gained prominence through her own compositions, recording her debut single with Cupol Records on 16 October 1967.

Fältskog entered a marriage with Björn Ulvaeus in 1971, with Benny Andersson performing at the ceremony. This personal connection, alongside her established friendship with Anni-Frid Lyngstad, facilitated the formation of ABBA. Despite the 1979 divorce filing, the group continued its output until an unofficial separation occurred in December 1982. She later participated in the group's reunion from 2016 until 2022, contributing to their ninth studio album, Voyage.
Solo Endeavors and Later Work
Throughout her career, Fältskog balanced group obligations with solo projects. She portrayed Mary Magdalene in a 1972 Swedish production of Jesus Christ Superstar and released the solo album Elva kvinnor i ett hus in 1975. Following a long hiatus from recording, she returned with My Colouring Book in 2004 and the 2013 album A. In 2024, she received the appointment as Commander 1st class of the Order of Vasa.
