Early Legal Practice

He is recognized for his role in transportation infrastructure, specifically the development of the Gold Line light rail project in Pasadena. His legislative work during this time earned him the moniker Father of the Gold Line, as his efforts were central to the creation of the Foothill Gold Line Construction Authority.

Schiff transitioned to federal office in 2001 after defeating incumbent James E. Rogan for a House seat.
