Adam Larsen Kwarasey

Adam Larsen Kwarasey secured his place in Major League Soccer history during the 2015 playoffs by scoring a crucial penalty and saving an opponent's attempt in a high-stakes shootout against Sporting Kansas City. This performance propelled the Portland Timbers toward their eventual championship, marking a high point in a diverse career spanning Norway, the United States, and Denmark.

Early Development and Strømsgodset

Born in Oslo in 1987, Kwarasey developed his skills through the youth systems at Trosterud and Vålerenga. His professional debut occurred on 6 May 2007 with Strømsgodset. By 2010, he had demonstrated his versatility by converting a penalty kick in a cup match against Modum. His tenure with the club reached a pinnacle in 2013 when he captained the squad to their first Tippeligaen title since 1970, earning the Kniksen Award for the season's best goalkeeper.

North American Success

In December 2014, Kwarasey transitioned to the Portland Timbers. His impact was immediate, particularly during the 2015 MLS Cup campaign. Beyond his decisive shootout actions in the knockout rounds, he provided stability at the back until a torn ligament in his finger sustained against the San Jose Earthquakes in April 2016 forced a temporary withdrawal from the pitch. He departed Portland to return to the Norwegian league system.

Return to Europe

Kwarasey signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with Rosenborg in July 2016. In his solitary season with the team, he secured both the Tippeligaen title and the Norwegian Football Cup. His time in Norway continued with a transfer to Vålerenga in 2017, where he agreed to a three-year deal. His career also included a stint with Brøndby in Denmark, beginning in January 2017.

International Representation

Though born in Norway, Kwarasey opted to represent Ghana at the international level. He gained eligibility in 2010 and debuted for the Black Stars in a 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Swaziland. He served as the primary goalkeeper during the 2012 tournament. Kwarasey later participated in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, starting the opening match against the United States, before concluding his association with the national team later that year.
