🇺🇸 Yogesh Raut

The 2024 Tournament of Champions

Jeopardy.com reported on 11 March 2024 that Ben Chan, Yogesh Raut and Troy Meyer had advanced to the final of that year's Tournament of Champions. On 19 March the show reported that Raut had won it.

The tournament is the programme's annual reckoning. It assembles the strongest champions of the preceding season and removes the structural advantage that produces streaks in the first place: every opponent is a champion, everyone knows the buzzer, and the field has all beaten the same game.

Masters, and then Masters again

Masters sits above the Tournament of Champions. It is a small invitational field of the show's elite players, and its top prize is $500,000. The research record behind this page has Raut as runner-up in the 2024 edition and winner in 2025.

The show's own account goes further. On 14 September 2026, Jeopardy.com published a special edition of Inside Jeopardy!, hosted by Sarah Whitcomb Foss, interviewing Raut shortly after a Masters season four win, and described him there as a two-time Masters champion. That confirms a second title; the year of the first comes from the research record rather than from the interview page.

What winning both means

Very few players hold the Tournament of Champions and Masters at once. The two events test different things: the tournament rewards surviving a bracket against a season's best, while Masters is a round-robin among a handful of the show's strongest players, where a single weak session is difficult to recover from.

A player who wins the tournament earns the Masters invitation; a player who wins Masters twice has held his place against that field across two separate years. Raut's record covers both, which puts him among the small group the programme treats as its elite rather than as its champions.

What the sources do not carry

The Inside Jeopardy! page used for this profile is built around video rather than text. It confirms the titles and the interview, and it does not carry his occupation, his home city, his quiz background outside the programme, prize figures or any direct quotation.

That absence is worth stating, because a great deal circulates about Raut online, particularly about his views on the show and on quizzing generally. None of it is corroborated by the two dispatches used here, and none of it appears above.
