Who Was Gil Shwed?
Gil Shwed (Hebrew: ΧΧΧ Χ©ΧΧΧ; born 1968) is an Israeli software engineer and entrepreneur. He is the co-founder and Executive Chairman of the Board of Check Point, one of Israel's largest technology companies and the world's largest pure-play cybersecurity company. Shwed was CEO from 1994 until 2024, the longest tenure for a Nasdaq-listed company.
He is considered the inventor of the modern computer firewall.
