The continental-to-world double in a single season is the specific thing that separates a good junior sculler from a genuine one. European and world junior finals are months apart, at the end of a long school and racing year, and the athlete who wins both has demonstrated that the first result was not a peak but a level. Mouselimis did it in the boat that offers no help — one athlete, no crew, no coxswain.
What should not be over-read is the age band. Under 19 championships include athletes who are eighteen and physically close to finished alongside sixteen-year-olds, and the published field does not establish where Mouselimis sits in that range. Nor does a junior title predict senior success reliably; the senior men's single is the most competitive sculling event in the sport. The claim that survives all of that is narrow and solid: in 2026 he was the fastest junior single sculler in Europe, and then the fastest in the world.
