Early Professional Trajectory
Aboukhlal began his professional path at PSV, where he made his debut for Jong PSV in a 2–1 victory against FC Eindhoven on 17 August 2018. Following only two appearances for the senior squad, he transferred to AZ Alkmaar in August 2019 for a fee of €2 million. He remained with AZ until his move to France in 2022.

In June 2022, the player signed with the French club Toulouse. He played a direct role in the 2023 Coupe de France title win, scoring in the 79th minute of the final against Nantes. However, his tenure included public controversy. In May 2023, he refused to participate in a league-wide anti-homophobia campaign. During the same period, he faced allegations of a verbal altercation with deputy mayor Laurence Arribagé regarding the tone of conduct during team festivities. Following a meeting between the two, both parties issued statements intended to resolve the public dispute.
International Participation
Aboukhlal made his senior debut for Morocco on 13 November 2020, scoring in a 4–1 win against the Central African Republic. In 2022, he was selected for the nation's 23-man squad competing in the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. He scored his first World Cup goal during a match against Belgium on 27 November 2022.
Move to Serie A
On 29 July 2025, Aboukhlal finalized a move to Italy by signing a four-year contract with Torino. This appointment followed his multi-year stint in French football.
