Wim Kok served as Prime Minister of the Netherlands from 1994 until 2002, marking a significant shift in Dutch politics by leading the first purple coalitions. Born in Bergambacht in 1938, he transitioned from a background in trade union leadership to become a central figure in the Labour Party and the Kingdom of the Netherlands government.
Early Career and Trade Union Leadership
Kok completed his studies at Nyenrode Business University before entering the professional sphere. He dedicated his early career to the Dutch Confederation of Trade Unions, starting in 1961.
