Viacheslav Chornovil (1937–1999) was an Ukrainian activist and politician. Chornovil was born in Yerky on 24 December 1937. He died in Ivankiv on 25 March 1999, at the age of 62.
The public offices recorded are People's Deputy of Ukraine (1990–1994), People's Deputy of Ukraine (1994–1998), People's Deputy of Ukraine (1998–1999) and Special Guest of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (1995–1996). Chornovil is best known for Declaration of State Sovereignty of Ukraine. He worked in politics, human rights protection and literary criticism.
The honours on record include Shevchenko National Prize (1996), Hero of Ukraine, Order of the State (2000), Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, 5th class and Badge of honor «For services to the Crimean Tatar people». Chornovil appeared at 1989–1991 Ukrainian revolution. He was elected to Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, 3rd Verkhovna Rada and 1st Supreme Council. He studied at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Institute of Journalism and Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.
Chornovil married Atena Pashko and Olena Antoniv. He had two recorded children, Andriy Chornovil and Taras Chornovil. He is recorded as following the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church. The recorded cause of death is traffic collision.
