Veijo Meri (1928–2015) was a Finnish linguist, screenwriter and poet. Meri was born in Vyborg on 31 December 1928. He died in Helsinki on 21 June 2015, at the age of 87.
The output is classed under modernism, essay and poetry. Meri worked in Finnish literature. He had begun working by 1954.
Meri received Pro Finlandia Medal of the Order of the Lion of Finland (1967), Aleksis Kivi Award (1972), Nordic Council Literature Prize (1973), Eino Leino Prize (2004) and doctor honoris causa of the University of Helsinki. He studied at University of Helsinki.
