Vavá

Brazilian association football player (1934–2002)

Edvaldo Izidio Neto, known as Vavá, became the first professional footballer to score in two separate FIFA World Cup final matches. He maintained this unique distinction in football history for several decades following his international retirement.

Early Development and Domestic Success

Born in Recife in 1934, the player began his professional journey with Sport Recife between 1949 and 1950. His move to Vasco da Gama led to significant domestic success, securing three Campeonato Carioca titles in 1952, 1956, and 1958. During this period, he also helped the team win the 1958 Torneio Rio–São Paulo, establishing himself as a prolific striker within the Brazilian league structure.
