Born in Denver in 1953, Timothy Alan Dick established a career spanning decades as a multifaceted entertainer, comedian, and filmmaker. Early Development and Academic Training
Following his move to Birmingham, Michigan, he attended Seaholm High School, where his interests included music and theater. He pursued higher education at Central Michigan University before transferring to Western Michigan University. His entry into stand-up comedy occurred in 1975 at Mark Ridley’s Comedy Castle in Royal Oak. After working through local television and cable spots, he moved to Los Angeles to perform regularly at The Comedy Store. His film debut arrived in 1988 with a role as a baggage handler in Tropical Snow, which preceded his eventual rise to national prominence in the early 1990s.
Television and Film Franchises
He achieved major success as Tim 'The Tool-Man' Taylor on Home Improvement, which aired from 1991 to 1999 and earned him a Golden Globe Award in 1995. Simultaneously, he voiced Buzz Lightyear in the Toy Story franchise and played Scott Calvin in The Santa Clause films. His television career continued with the sitcom Last Man Standing, spanning nine seasons from 2011 to 2021.
