The professional goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha began his path toward top-tier European football within the youth academies of APOEL in Cyprus and Panionios in Greece. Born in Athens in 1995, he emerged as a consistent starter in Italy before securing a domestic league title in his home country of Greece with AEK Athens during the 2025–26 season.
Early Development and Lazio Tenure
Strakosha joined Lazio in 2011 for a transfer fee of €75,000. He initially served as a third-choice goalkeeper, waiting years for a senior breakthrough. During this period, he was part of the squad that secured the 2013 Coppa Italia title. After a loan spell at Salernitana during the 2015–16 season, where he gained professional experience with 11 league appearances, he returned to Rome to compete for the starting position.

The goalkeeper made his Lazio debut against Milan on 20 September 2016 following an injury to Federico Marchetti. He soon became the regular starter under manager Simone Inzaghi, eventually accumulating over 200 appearances for the club. His time in Rome included two Coppa Italia victories and two Supercoppa Italiana titles. He renewed his contract with the club in 2017 to cement his status as the primary choice in goal.
Transition to England and Return to Greece
His time in England resulted in limited first-team opportunities. He subsequently returned to Greece in 2024 to join AEK Athens. This move proved successful, as he established himself as the club's primary goalkeeper and contributed to their victory in the 2025–26 Super League Greece championship.
