Early Career and Touring Cars

Boutsen debuted in Formula One at the 1983 Belgian Grand Prix with Arrows. After three seasons with the team, he joined Benetton in 1987. His performance improved significantly during 1988, where he scored points in ten races and finished fourth in the World Drivers' Championship. His technical feedback and consistency earned him a seat at Williams for the 1989 season, where he replaced Nigel Mansell.
Victories at Williams
The 1989 season marked Boutsen's first two Grand Prix wins. He claimed victory at the Canadian Grand Prix in wet conditions after a late-race engine failure sidelined Ayrton Senna. He repeated this success later that year at the rain-soaked Australian Grand Prix, ending his season with two wins and multiple podium appearances.
Aviation and Racing Management
Following his retirement from competitive driving, Boutsen shifted his focus to the aviation industry, managing a business jet sales firm based in Monaco. He also maintains involvement in motorsport as the founder and advisor to Boutsen Racing, an organization that has participated in touring car racing since 1998.
